Jason Gu : Claims Double Silver at 2026 Pan Am Junior Championships

JOÃO PESSOA, Brazil — Team USA's Jason Gu delivered a breakthrough performance on the international stage on July 26,2026, capturing two silver medals at the XXXIV Yonex Pan Am Junior Championships 2026 after finishing runner-up in both the U15 Men's Singles and U15 Mixed Doubles events.

Competing against the strongest junior players from across the Americas, Gu battled through two demanding draws to reach the finals in both disciplines. In two thrilling championship matches, he pushed his opponents to the limit, with both finals going the full three sets. The achievement is the result of years of disciplined preparation. Jason trains year-round across the Long Island Badminton Center (LIBC), New York Badminton Center (NYBC), and Brooklyn Badminton Center (BKBC), where he benefits from a high-performance training environment, and a training system focused on long-term athlete development. The collaboration among the sister clubs has provided him with the competitive atmosphere and resources needed to prepare for international competition.

Leading his development is Coach Chibing Wu, a former World Championships medalist and one of the sport's most accomplished coaches. Watching his student reach two Pan Am finals was a proud moment.

"Jason has shown tremendous dedication every day in training. These results are a reflection of his work ethic and willingness to learn. This is an important milestone, but it's only the beginning of what he can achieve," said Coach Chibing Wu.

Jason's biggest supporters have been with him every step of the way, especially his father, Jimmy Gu, who expressed immense pride in seeing his son represent the United States on one of the biggest junior stages in the Americas.

"Watching Jason compete internationally and stand on the podium twice is an unforgettable moment for our family. We're incredibly proud of everything he has accomplished, and even more excited for what's ahead. I’d like to thank team LIBC/NYBC/BKBC for all the love and support," said Jimmy Gu.

While the double silver medals mark a significant accomplishment, there is little time to celebrate. Jason has already shifted his focus to the next challenge. For Jason Gu, these two silver medals are not the finish line—they are the foundation of a promising future.

This is just the beginning.
