Summer Challenge Tournament

Last Day to Register : August 17, 2026 Monday 5pm est.

Tournament Format

  • All matches follow the BWF Laws of Badminton, except where modified by these tournament rules.

  • Best of 3 games.

  • 21 rally points per game w/ deuce.

  • Matches will be played according to the official tournament schedule.

  • Players are responsible for reporting to their assigned court promptly.

  • Note : We MAY provide a scorekeeper (if available) for matches Semifinals and above.

Draw Format

  • The tournament format will depend on the number of entries in each event.

  • Events may use:

    • Round Robin + Single Elimination Playoffs

    • Single Elimination

    • w/ Consolation round (tbd based on number of participants). may not run cons if we receive an overwhelming participants on a 1day event.

      • All cons will be 15 points 1 set w/ deuce.

  • The USAB referee reserves the right to determine the most appropriate draw format for each event.

    • Note draws will be done by a certfied USAB referee.

Event Participation

  • Players may enter up to two (2) events.

  • Tournament organizers reserve the right to combine or adjust draws when necessary to accommodate scheduling.

  • International-level players, Pan Am-level players are only eligible to participate in level A to ensure fairness.

  • Current club coaches, and players of equivalent competitive caliber are not eligible to compete in Level C or Level D events, regardless of their partner's playing level.

  • The Tournament Director reserves the right to reclassify players, move them to a higher division, or deny entry if a player's skill level is determined to be inconsistent with the intended level of play.

  • Any player found to have provided inaccurate or misleading information regarding their playing level may be disqualified without refund.

Event Cancellation

  • Events with insufficient entries may be cancelled or merged with another division at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

  • Players affected by a cancelled event will receive a full refund for that event.

Seeding

  • Seeding will be based on:

    • Tournament results

    • Player rankings

    • Previous performance

    • USAB referee's discretion when necessary

Match Procedures

  • A 2-minute warm-up is permitted before each match.

  • Players who are not ready to play within 5 minutes after their match is called may be subject to a walkover.

  • Match times may change throughout the day. Players should frequently check tournamentsoftware.com and remain near the competition area.

Equipment

  • Players must use non-marking badminton shoes.

  • Feather or shuttle type will be determined by the tournament organizer.

  • Players are responsible for bringing their own racquets and personal equipment.

Conduct & Sportsmanship

  • Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct, abusive language, harassment, or disrespect toward officials, volunteers, or other players may result in:

    • Warning

    • Match default

    • Disqualification from the tournament

  • Tournament officials' decisions are final.

Photography & Media

  • By participating, players grant LIBC permission to use tournament photos and videos for promotional and marketing purposes without additional compensation.

Refund Policy

  • Entry fees are non-refundable after the registration deadline, except:

    • An event is cancelled due to low participation.

    • The tournament is cancelled by the organizer.

  • No refunds will be issued for player withdrawals after the registration deadline.

Tournament Director

The Tournament Director reserves the right to:

  • Modify the schedule to ensure efficient tournament operation.

  • Adjust draws, combine divisions, or reclassify players when appropriate. (With the assistance of a certified USAB referee)

  • Interpret and enforce all tournament rules.

  • Make final decisions on any matters not specifically covered by these policies.

This set of rules is concise, professional, and aligns well with the style used in USAB-sanctioned local tournaments while remaining easy for players to understand.
